Judith Philips will give a presentation on the topic Researching and Writing The Gardens of Los Poblanos. Researching and writing about the gardens of Los Poblanos provided an opportunity to answer the many questions that arose while she was working on the plant selection for the transition of the gardens from their historic roots to present day resilience. After her presentation she will have autographed copies of her new book The Gardens of Los Poblanos available for purchase.

Wes Brittenham, Director of Horticulture at Los Poblanos will speak on Garden and Landscape Design Using Nature as Inspiration. He will talk about observing patterns of sun and shade, how water moves through the garden, and ways to attract pollinators and create a wildlife habitat.

This is the Xeric Garden Club’s only fundraiser of the year and an opportunity for members to purchase
great plants for their gardens.
It is also an important time for members to volunteer selling locally grown xeric plants.
This event helps support the Albuquerque Garden Center and all of the demonstration gardens.

Docent led tour of the Randall Davey Audubon Center & Sanctuary gardens, Santa Fe.
The Randall Davey Audubon Center & Sanctuary encompasses 135 acres of striking landscapes and wildlife. Bounded by thousands of acres of National Forest and Santa Fe River Watershed land, the Center and Sanctuary provides a peaceful sanctuary for native plants, a variety of local wildlife and visitors. Ranging from common to rare, approximately 190 species of birds can be found in or over the various ecosystems of this sanctuary.
Sunday, June 9, 2024 Annual Albuquerque Garden Tour
Self guided from 9am – 4pm. Presented by the Council of Albuquerque Garden Clubs. This 2024 Parade of Gardens in ABQ features “ The Gardens of Arroyo Del Oso Neighborhood". The Xeric Garden Club mans a table at one of the gardens and is an opportunity for Xeric volunteers to invite tour participants to join the club and educate the public on the importance of xeriscaping in an arid climate. Club members who volunteer get garden tour tickets at half price. One of the 6 gardens on the tour will host a lunch for tour participants.

Docent Kathy Burnett will speak on the topic Connecting Kids with Wildlife Habitat Gardening and will provide information on how to create a wildlife habitat in your own backyard.

Saturday July 13, 2024, 9am: Tour of Two Members’ Private Residential Gardens, NW Albuquerque
Guided tour of Janet Herbst’s garden followed by a tour of the garden of Beth Herschman/Joe Vanderburg, with the possibility of two neighbors’ gardens. Pot luck garden party at the Herschman/Vanderburg residence at the conclusion of the tours.
Monday, July 15, 2024 – Friday July 19, 2024, 8:30am - 2pm: Garden Guardians Summer Day Camp
Open to children 6–10 years old.
This summer day camp is organized by members of the Xeric Garden Club and held at the Albuquerque Garden Center, 10120 Lomas Boulevard NE.
